From a Little Girl's Dream to Reality
Cindy is a Colombian whose parents brought her to the United States when she was only 2 years old. When Cindy was about to finish grade 11th, the school asked her for documents to be able to apply for scholarships at universities that would accepted her. However, through her parents Cindy received the sad news of her immigration status. Cindy, very concerned about the situation, decided to investigate what options she had; luckily during this time of frustration and struggle, her DACA application was approved and she quickly approached our office to register and obtain a work permit, a social security card and an identification of Massachusetts. These three documents were more than enough for her to be able to fill out her applications for the universities she was interested. She was able to attend college on a scholarship and graduated from Simmons College with a degree of Certified Nursing. Currently Cindy has a full time job at Boston Children Hospital.
